About Us
Our Mission
Yellow Book Box's mission is to grow a love of reading in young adults. Whether it’s due to a negative classroom experience, not enough free time, or a lack of accessibility, many high schoolers lose their love of reading and the beneficial literacy skills that come with it. Overall, literacy rates in the U.S. have been drastically dropping. According to The Book Truck: teen literacy outreach, 60% of teens in the U.S. don’t read at grade level.
We bridge this gap with our Reading Revolution Program. We donate new books for students in qualifying school districts throughout the year to promote literacy and a love of reading.
“Thank you for helping us keep kids reading! Everyone was really excited when the yellow boxes showed up at the library!” - Leslie and Gaby, Fond du Lac High School Library

Yellow Book Box is a small business based in the Greater Boston area. The idea began in 2020 as we read a lot more at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I had always loved to read because it exposed me to so many new worlds, real and fictional, and I got to fully immerse myself in something new. As I got older, finding the time to read became harder, but with the pandemic forcing us to stay home, I was able to read more than ever and reading became a comforting escape. At the time, it was hard to get books from libraries and bookstores, so we started searching for a good book subscription box for young adults. Coming up short of a box that provides only quality, curated books with nothing extra, the idea for Yellow Book Box started to develop. Reading has been such an influential part of my life, and I want other young adults to experience the same benefits and beauty.
